Picture the scene: Plymouth, 1974 and two young Italians called Luciano - from Padova - and Sabato - from Positano - came to Plymouth to follow love! In fact, they both got married to their wives in 1978. The two worked at a place in 1983 that used to be called “Bella Napoli", then “Osteria Romana” in the Barbican.
In 1992, the two friends decided it was time for them to make a different future for themselves and opened Positano Restaurant, originally a pizzeria, but with the capabilities of chefs Andrew, John and Sabato, the pizzeria could grow into one of the most beloved Italian Restaurants in Plymouth. Mario has been part of this team as a waiter for the past 20 years.
The retirement of Sabato and Luciano put Positano in a position of uncertainty, but John and Mario happily stepped in and bought the restaurant in 2023, securing its future for the years to come.
